Step-by-Step Instructions

1

Step 1: Establishing the Center

Pencil sketch showing a vertical center line and a horizontal line forming the first quadrant of the Batman logo guide.

Draw a light vertical line in the center of your paper, then add a horizontal line extending to the left. Connect them with a gentle curve. Tip: Keep your pencil pressure light so these guide lines are easy to erase later!

2

Step 2: Balancing the Shape

Pencil sketch showing the upper half of the Batman logo guide with symmetrical curved lines.

Extend a horizontal line to the right of your vertical axis and connect it with a matching curve. Tip: Try to make the left and right sides look like mirror images to keep your logo symmetrical.

3

Step 3: Creating the Outer Oval

Pencil sketch of a large, complete oval shape serving as the outer boundary for the Batman logo.

Sketch a long, sweeping curved line that crosses the bottom of your vertical line, connecting the two ends to form a large oval. Tip: Don't worry if it's not perfect; ovals are tricky, so take your time!

4

Step 4: Adding Detail Guides

Pencil sketch showing the large oval with four small straight guide lines at the intersection points.

Draw four short, straight lines where your original cross-lines meet the oval. Tip: These act as 'anchor points' to help you keep the bat wings proportional.

5

Step 5: Refining the Inner Shape

Pencil sketch showing a smaller inner oval nested within the larger outer oval.

Use those short lines as a guide to sketch a smaller oval inside the first. Once you're happy with the shape, erase the short guide lines. Tip: Use a soft eraser to keep your paper clean.

6

Step 6: Adding More Guides

Pencil sketch showing the inner oval with four new guide lines added for further refinement.

Draw four more short, straight guide lines where the vertical and horizontal lines intersect your new inner oval. Tip: Precision here helps the bat wings look sharp later on.

7

Step 7: Creating the Third Oval

Pencil sketch showing a third, smaller oval shape centered within the previous ones.

Draw a third oval using your new guide lines, then erase the guides. Tip: You are essentially creating layers that will eventually become the bat's body.

8

Step 8: Drawing the Bat Ears

Pencil sketch showing two small triangles added to the top of the innermost oval to form bat ears.

Draw two triangles along the top of the innermost oval, one on each side of the center line. Tip: Keep the triangles pointy to give the bat a fierce look!

9

Step 9: Connecting the Wings

Pencil sketch showing the top wing structure of the Batman logo connected by straight and curved lines.

Extend a curved line from the bottom of each triangle, then connect the top points with three straight lines. Tip: This creates the classic 'scalloped' wing shape.

10

Step 10: Defining the Body

Pencil sketch showing two additional ovals added to the bottom center to define the bat's body.

Draw two ovals along the vertical line that intersect the bottom of your inner ovals. Tip: These will form the lower part of the bat's body.

11

Step 11: Completing the Wing Span

Pencil sketch showing the final wing ovals added to complete the Batman logo outline.

Draw another oval on each side, intersecting both the small ovals and the large inner ovals. Tip: This final shape completes the wing span.

12

Step 12: Cleaning Up

Pencil sketch showing the cleaned-up outline of the Batman logo with all guide lines removed.

Erase all your internal guide lines and overlapping shapes to reveal the clean, iconic bat silhouette. Tip: Take your time—this is the most satisfying part of the drawing process!

13

Step 13: Adding Color

Final colored Batman logo with a black bat silhouette on a bright yellow oval background.

Bring your logo to life! Color the bat black, the outline black, and the background yellow. Tip: Use markers for bold, vibrant colors, or colored pencils for a softer, textured look.
